For young and old alike, Oriental Land Co., operator of Tokyo Disney Resort, plans to assemble a new hotel themed on the Toy Story film series, the company announced Nov. 28.
It will be designed as if everything from the exterior to the courtyard are made of toys, said a company official.
The total investment for the 600-room hotel, which is set to open in fiscal 2021, will be about 31.5 billion yen ($278 million).
The 10th hotel in Tokyo Disney Resort will be the first that will be themed on a film series.
The project has been deemed as viable with an expected increase in the number of visitors to the resort, particularly with future attractions and expansions.
A new area based on the film Beauty and the Beast will open in Tokyo Disneyland in fiscal 2020, and Tokyo DisneySea will be significantly enlarged in fiscal 2022.
